It is great fun knowing other people who really appreciate and find solace in reading & watching Jane Austen inspired stories. Being from the Philippines, these stories & movies are not easily accessible so I had to take full advantage of what the internet & free downloads can offer! (Bride & Prejudice never had its run here in the Philipines but it was worth watching online! haha) But for me, the best Jane Austen movie adaptation would have to be Pride & Prejudice 2005 with Keira Knightley & Matthew Macfadyen. Though the age gap, their chemistry was undeniable. Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy was drool worthy. I never get tired watching it over over again and even convinced my whole family to watch it last Christmas eve. Haha!

Just trying my luck: nina_rebecca_ramos@yahoo.com
Thanks!:))ninarrshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06984902295963413882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8954683999390981517.post-22221899993211358652011-01-16T02:07:06.187+01:002011-01-16T02:07:06.187+01:00Great interview Mrs. Brant! Have a wonderful weekend!

Jade, I like the modernizations quite a lot (like "Clueless" and "Bridget Jones") alongside the classic versions, of course, but I'll confess to having some trouble when sea monsters and vampires start to get involved... Though I do so love a classic story like Pride & Prejudice, these new ones like Wayne's "Emma and the Vampires" might appeal more to those who wouldn't actually read or bother with a 'boring' classic and would only touch them with a ten-foot pole (this comes from experience, namely, my friends gawking at my collection :-P).
Also, I love some of the movies done up as adaptations of the books, even if the script is modified a little.

Thank you for this chance and for doing this giveaway!! :)

legally_write[at]hotmail[dot]comMargarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11030848293222582772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8954683999390981517.post-88074343789495622372011-01-14T20:19:35.397+01:002011-01-14T20:19:35.397+01:00Great interview. And, yes...sigh...who wouldn't love that Colin Firth adaptation?!

mbreakfield, I *know* -- it's just *so* good, isn't it?! I remember seeing it when it first aired and being in awe of the detail the production team included. It was remarkably well done.

Claudia, I just love that version of S&S!! Col. Brandon is such a sweetheart of a character -- it would be hard not to appreciate him. As for my husband, he might annoy me by watching *endless* hours of sports on TV (Chicago has so many teams, so he's been a lifelong fan of the Cubs, the Bears, the Blackhawks...etc.), but he got his masters degree in English lit, so he'd actually read Austen on his own (for fun!) before we'd ever met. This definitely added to his other inducements when we were dating ;-).

Petali, thank you so much!! Both for the compliment to my husband and for your interest in my novel! :)

Linda, thanks! I read and watched The Jane Austen Book Club and especially loved the film version (I thought the director brought out a bit more of the comedy, and I really appreciated that). I enjoyed it for a similar reason to what you'd said -- it was fascinating to see Austen-esque situations alive and well in contemporary society. So interesting (!!) and a large motivation behind what I'd hoped to do when I wrote my debut book ;).Marilyn Branthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05303846770348840645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8954683999390981517.post-17136977810177141372011-01-14T16:18:51.437+01:002011-01-14T16:18:51.437+01:00My favorite P & P film is with Colin Firth. The 1996 BBC P&P with Colin Firth will always be my favourite because everything was done with such great detail and all the actors were perfect for their roles.
