TALKING JANE AUSTEN WITH ... AUTHOR CAROLINE MALCOM-BOULTON!

A Unique Crossover

Caroline Malcom-Boulton is the author of The Three Witches of Milton,  a unique crossover novella which unites and explores elements from three of my absolute best favourite classic novels:  Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre.

Playing with quotes from these three inspirational novels and their iconic screenplays, Caroline Malcom-Boulton blends the English classics together, infusing them with an original plot, all so that we might explore the intriguing relationship of similarities between their characters and themes.

I invited  lovely Caroline to join me at My Jane Austen Book Club to talk Jane Austen and also to tell us more about her new release.

ELAINE OWEN, GASKELL VS AUSTEN. AUTHOR GUEST POST & GIVEAWAY

Hi everybody! I’m thrilled to be able to visit with you today via My Jane Austen Book Club! A million thanks to Maria Grazia for letting me introduce myself and my newest novel, Margaret of Milton, to you!

Margaret of Milton is a variation on the beloved novel North and South, by Elizabeth Gaskell. On a blog dedicated to Jane Austen it may seem strange to feature a book based on a different author’s work! But as many Janeites have discovered, the writings of Elizabeth Gaskell contain some intriguing parallels and differences from Austen. Today I’d like to talk about the lives and writings of both authors.

BLOG TOUR FALLING FOR MR THORNTON - INTERVIEW WITH DON JACOBSON, ELAINE OWEN, NICOLE CLARKSTON AND ROSE FAIRBANKS

First of all  as an old fan of North and South (1855) and Mrs Gaskell’s work, I was super happy when I  discovered an anthology of short stories inspired to her novel was going to be released.  I can’t wait to read Falling for Mr Thornton! You can bet I’ll do it as soon as possible and I’ll keep you updated of my progress and my response, of course.
Meanwhile,  I have had the opportunity to ask three of the authors in the anthology a few questions about their approach to the novel. First of all, I asked  Rose Fairbanks, Don Jacobson, Elaine Owen and Nicole Clarkston, four Austen authors you’ve already met on different occasions here at My Jane Austen Book Club, how difficult  it was to move from Austen’s world to Gaskell’s.
