Dear Janeites and romance lovers,

I’m thrilled to welcome Alana Highbury to My Jane Austen Book Club! Alana has once again woven Austen-inspired magic with her latest contemporary romance, the second book in her captivating series. This time, she brings us a modern take on Persuasion, filled with heartbreak, second chances, and the undeniable pull of unfinished love.

In this novel, Annie is forced to confront her past when Kylan—the man whose heart she broke four years ago—unexpectedly re-enters her life. As she struggles to rebuild herself after personal setbacks, Annie must navigate not only her lingering feelings for Kylan but also the professional challenge of working with him. Will she be able to hold her ground, or will fate offer them a long-awaited second chance?

Join me as I chat with Alana about her inspiration, the emotional depths of her characters, and what’s next in her Austen-inspired world!  MG💕

BRIGID HUEY, LEARNING TO LOVE: A PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND LITTLE WOMEN CROSSOVER!

Thank you for having me at My Jane Austen Book Club! I am so happy to be here to share my upcoming novel. Learning to Love is a Pride and Prejudice and Little Women crossover! In it, Amy and Laurie keep up a lively correspondence and grow closer through their letters.

We all know how digitized our world has become. I’m always texting, emailing, scrolling. As a writer, I used to write all my stories in notebooks. But I transitioned my writing from pen and paper to my laptop a few years ago. It’s more efficient (no more typing out what I’ve written) and I can type faster than I can write by hand.

WHAT WOULD JANE AUSTEN DO? INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR LINDA CORBETT

Hello everyone and happy weekend! Summer has come and with it some spare time for leisure reading. I'm having great fun leafing through a witty modern romance with so many winks at Jane Austen and her world. What Would Jane Austen Do? is what you need to relax and enjoy these first summer days.

While the story is not exactly a retelling of any Austen novel, each chapter starts with a Jane Austen quote, and the main character Maddy is an Austen superfan, which leads to references to her books, characters and quotations.

I'm really glad and grateful to the author, Linda Corbett, for being our guest at My Jane Austen Book Club and for taking the time to talk Jane Austen with me.

Please scroll down to discover more about the book and its author. I hope you'll enjoy reading and will be willing to welcome Linda and share your thoughts in the comment section below after finishing.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT PERIOD DRAMA? COUNTING DOWN TO THE NEW PERSUASION

(by guest blogger Lizzie Nelson)

Along with everybody else, I have been counting the days until the new Persuasion is released. Good or bad, I will lap it up.

I often wonder what it is about period dramas that captivate me so. Why are they so incredibly fulfilling? At 56, I am past the age of seeing myself as a Jane Austen heroine; unaware of her compelling yet understated beauty, quick witted, independent, resigned to spinsterhood and then finding love.I am married and jolly content, I am in my own happy ending and have not the slightest yearning for excitement and romance… I think.

DUKE DARCY'S CASTLE BLOG TOUR: EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY

Duke Darcy's Castle is the third book in the series Dare to Defy by Syrie James, but it is a story you can read and enjoy independently from the previous instalments.

It's been my happy place for a few days, a pleasant reading reminding me of a splendid tour in Cornwall a few years ago. The action takes place, in fact,  in a remote, enchanting tidal island inspired to real Mount St. Michael, St. Gabriel's Mount.

The novel is set in the late Victorian Age and it has all the elements an engaging historical romance can offer:  a captivating hero, a brilliant heroine, a steaming love story.

Kathryn Atherton arrives at St Gabriel's Mount unexpected  - well, they weren't expecting a lady - and with one purpose in mind: to be appreciated as an architect by the Tenth Duke of Darcy, Lance Granville, whose ancient castle needs renovation and refurbishment. Her professional success, in a world exclusively inhabited by male architects,  is very difficult to achieve, but that is just what Kathryn wants to pursue and she will not let  any distraction or obstacle to lead her astray.

Lance Granville has just left his own career in the Royal Navy to inherit the family title and become the Tenth Duke of  Darcy, something he has never wished for himself. When a very attractive woman architect appears in his residence, he just can't believe his eyes.

Kathryn and Lance will hit it off immediately  and the attraction between them will not make things easy for either of them.

This is the premise to a delightful love story that will keep you intrigued and excited till the last page.
